In his kindness God called you to his eternal glory by means of Jesus Christ. After you have suffered a little while, he will restore, support, and strengthen you, and he will place you on a firm foundation.” 1 Peter 5:10
Humility starts with repentance.
Repentance starts when we stop hiding.
When life feels heavy or circumstances aren’t favorable, our flesh wants us to pull back — to hide our pain, isolate our hearts, and put on a mask when we do show up. But isolation is exactly where the enemy loves to work.
Lions don’t chase the strongest; they go after the lonely one who is straggling and weary. Peter warns us that the same is true in our spiritual battles. When we’re suffering or stuck in grief, feeling unseen, or focused only on our struggles, we can easily forget to keep our armor on and stay alert. This is the moment when the enemy strikes hardest. Satan has no mercy.
But God never intended for us to walk alone. He designed godly community to be a place of covering and strength. In a godly community, we can come in shattered, broken, and disillusioned by pain — yet still be welcomed, loved, and restored. It’s a place where truth is spoken in love, where correction leads to healing, and where wisdom and guidance flow from hearts surrendered to God. Godly community is a judgment free zone, unlike the world.
Here, grace meets truth.
Brokenness becomes wholeness. And those once wounded become set apart to testify of His redemption.
Because “they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony” (Revelation 12:11 NIV).
When we show up authentically — mask off, heart open — we create space for healing and accountability. God uses godly community to restore, support, and strengthen us in our hardest seasons
So if you’re in a season of despair right now, resist the urge to withdraw and hide. Show up in your mess. Be vulnerable. Be accountable and repent for hiding. Join hands with others who will remind you of truth when your faith feels weak.
Because when we stand together, the enemy flees (James 4:7). And when we remain humble and connected, God Himself restores and establishes us on a firm foundation.
